American Sanskrit Institute

The American Sanskrit Institute was created by Vyaas Houston M.A. in 1989 with a vision of Sanskrit as a universal sacred language. Utilizing learning technology based on the theory and practice of yoga, ASI courses emphasize the ease and joy of learning Sanskrit through an immersion experience, the enjoyment of making the sounds, fluently reading the original Devanagari script, and directly reading, chanting and understanding sacred literature.

The Mozart Effect

The Mozart Effect is an inclusive term signifying the transformational powers of music in health, education, and well-being. It represents the general use of music to reduce stress, depression, or anxiety; induce relaxation or sleep; activate the body; and improve memory or awareness. Innovative and experimental uses of music and sound can improve listening disorders, dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, autism, and other mental and physical disorders and injuries.

Music for Healing and Transition Program

The Music for Healing and Transition Program (MHTP) is a course of study which, in recognition of music as a therapeutic enhancement to the healing process and the life/death transition, prepares musicians to serve the ill, dying, and to all those who may benefit, by providing music as a service to create healing environments. Our graduates are Music Practitioners. To advance our student interns in the development of their skills, we affiliate with health care facilities and community organizations.

Fetzer Institute

The Fetzer Institute is a private operating foundation that supports research, education, and service programs exploring the integral relationships among body, mind, and spirit. In the wake of September 11, 2001, we at the Fetzer Institute have found ourselves, like many others, re-examining our purpose and mission with the hope that our efforts can be of greater relevance to the world. This inquiry has led to the communal development of a new mission: to foster awareness of the power of love and forgiveness in the emerging global community.
