What does Sacred Sound Institute do?

Sacred Sound Institute...

* acts nationally as an advocate for the use of music and sacred sound, by the general public, and especially in the fields of health and wellness, patient care, and workplace health

* conducts programs of public awareness, as well as professional education and training events

* strives to improve access to audio recordings and publications for general use that demonstrate the principles of sound and harmony that underlie the spiritually therapeutic aspects of sacred sound and its beneficial effects

* serves as an umbrella organization providing support for and dissemination of the work of other individuals and organizations dedicated to the therapeutic sound arts

About the Director

Cynthia Snodgrass has an undergraduate degree in Renaissance Music and a Master's degree in Musicology from Syracuse University, as well as a Master's of Divinity from Bexley Hall Episcopal Seminary. She has conducted extensive research into the world's spiritual traditions of sacred sound, which resulted in the founding of the Sacred Sound Institute and the writing of The Sonic Thread: Sound as a Pathway to Spirituality.  She has studied Sanskrit extensively with Vyaas Houston of the American Sanskrit Institute, as well as at Harvard University, while being a Senior Instructor for American Sanskrit.  She has also produced two CDs: Waters from the Son/Waters from the Moon: An Altar of Sound and Dream Chants.

How Is Sacred Sound Institute Funded?

Sacred Sound Institute is supported by contributions from individuals, corporations, civic groups and associations.

Sacred Sound Institute is recognized as a 501(c)3 public charity, and contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Your contribution will be used to support and encourage the use of spiritually therapeutic sound, bringing comfort, peace, and solace to those served.
