The Healing Power of Sacred Sound

The use of sacred sound for healing purposes is known the world over, from medicine songs to chanted mantra, from calls-to-prayer to Gregorian chant and Protestant hymn. In many cultures, sound is seen as a primary means of access to the divine, with soothing, even salvific, properties. Drawing on shamanic, Buddhist, Hindu, and Christian traditions, this workshop provides a broad exposure to sacred sound practices, and looks at how sacred sound (used to inspire the soul within ritual contexts) can be used to bring relaxation, balance, and healing to our everyday lives.

Program Areas

Customized workshops and consultations can be further developed in these program areas:

A. Healthcare Programs

B. Pastoral Care Programs

Trainings and presentations for pastoral caregivers, especially those in healthcare settings, that teach and encourage the use of spiritually therapeutic music as an integral part of pastoral care-giving

C. Community and Corporate Programs

Seminars that offer instruction in therapeutic sound to help alleviate the stresses of contemporary culture.

D. Inter-Religious Programs

Seminars and presentations that offer the opportunity to experience how spiritually therapeutic sound traditions (common to all major spiritual paths) can serve as peace-builders across religious boundaries, taking participants beyond intellectual dialogue and debate into the universal ground of the heart.
